Konnarock, Sun Aug 29 19:36:15 EDT 1993 About 45 minutes ago, we arrived and in good shape. There were torrential downpours on the Mass Turnpike and on I-84 in Connecticut which brought traffic to a virtual halt. Long delays at construction sites in the vicinity of Danbury, reminiscent of Germany. Can now save $500 Lufthansa fare and experience Autobahnstau in Connecticut. Arrived at Albrights at 12:15 a.m. found key in mailbox as promised. Today was "hot hazy and humid" in the Shenandoah Valley, temperatures must have been in the nineties, with very high humidity. The haze was so dense, the outline of the Massanutten mountains and the Blue Ridge was barely discernable, but the Chevrolet's air-conditioning worked well. Here in Konnarock, the house is O.K. Large areas of the basement floor in the hallway, the drying and the furnace room are covered with 1/8 to 3/8 inch of water. The humidity is close to 100%, the temperature in the seventies, with no breeze at all. Should we invest in a dehumidifier for the basement? Should I install some sort of exhaust fan? Please give my love to Laura, Rebekah, Nathaniel and Benjamin, and my regards to the Perlos. If you succeed in retrieving this, I will write more seriously, with separate letters for Rebekah and Nathaniel. I will check the kmeyer directory at jade.tufts.edu before going to bed each evening at 17:30 I will reply to any message prior to 21:00. The foregoing prior to our telephone conversation.
