I spoke with Death Wish Piano Movers.
They confirmed by surmise
that the upright piano weighed about 700 lbs.
They consider it feasible to transport it on a trailer.
They are willing to load the piano into a truck
or trailer for us. I did not ask, how much they would charge.
They also referred me to a long-distance hauler in Hartford
called Barrieau Moving and Storage Co. 1-800-243-8117
who regularly make trips down Route 81.
They will deliver the piano door to door for $700.00.
Given the cost of truck rental (644.00) plus
gasoline at 11 miles per gallon for 2x825 miles,
plus lodging (two nights) $53.00, plus loading and
unloading help at both ends ? 125*2, -
or trailer rental $140.00, plus gasoline ($60-$75)
each way, and again lodging and loading and unloading help,
it seems to me that the cost of moving the piano ourselves,
and the risk of a breakdown of car or trailer on the road
do not justify our making the effort.
Of course, I would enjoy making the trip with you,
but maybe we can do other things together.

To get the piano out of your way soon,
I suggest either, that we clear and clean
a space in your garage for it,
and move it there ourselves, - or that we get
Deathwish to move it back to the porch of 174.
Then, at the time of our next trip to Konnarock,
we can arrange, if it seems best, to have the piano
delivered by Barrieau while we are there.
I discussed this possibility with Barrieau
and they seemed to consider it practical.

going to Konnarock with you under all circumstances.
