I am grateful to you for your concern for me and I an grateful to you also for your advice concerning IOL implantation. It is all the more embarrassing to me to have decided not to have an IOL implanted, but to wear a contact lenss as long as I am able. If you were to ask me, I would tell you why. As you can imagine, I have been thinking about operative details, the size of the wound, the use of phacoemulsification, a possible iridectomy. I conclude that I want to leave all these matters to your discretion. As you know, the amount of post-operative astigmatism is of no concern to me. I want to thank you again for letting me "assist" at your recent cases, and for your willingness to help me. I will try hard to be a good patient.
