Dear Alex and Winnie, Thank you for your recent e-mail letter. I hope the visit to MGH was - or will turn out to be - helpful in the rehabilitation of Alec's wrist. Please tell him that we think of him often. Our life continues its uneventful routine. My practice has dwindled to the point where I have started to make drawings for a small addition to the house in which I would see what few patients will be left in the months and years to come. I am undecided whether such an investment would be worthwhile. Margaret, Klemens, Laura and the children are all well and I am enjoying my third childhood playing with the children. (My second childhood occurred years ago playing with Klemens.) All eight of us plan to drive to Virginia at Christmas. Before we go, I hope finally to have gotten the kitchen ceiling put back together. I made the mistake of trying to paste a new covering over the vinyl ceiling paper that I applied years ago. It won't stick and I shall have to strip the old paper before the job will look acceptable. I expect to start on that tomorrow. I finally finished cleaning up and painting the basement, and celebrated by buying a Xerox copier, something I have wanted to many years, so as to give me some tactical advantage as I face the bureaucracies that are assaulting me from all sides. I showed Margaret your letter on the computer monitor. She tells me she did receive the things you sent her, and you will doubtlessly hear from her, in due time. Love, Margaret and Jochen
