Various reasons have been offered, None of the various
reasons offered by the administration is so adamant in its
pursuit of a war again Iraq is persuasive. the need to
implement UN resolutions, the need to protect America
against Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, to prevent the
transfer of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons to
terrorists. Where Iraq does not pose an immediate threat to
the US it is plausible to suggest that the administration
has an inherent need to view the world in black or white, as
good or bad, positioning itself on the side of the good, on
the side of what is right, as agents of God. To this extent
the public seems to have need of evil as something to exert
itself against, as a counter-balance to its own
righteousness.
