Perhaps it is inevitable, that thought, - or philosophy
if one can countenance the term, - should issue in mysterious
terminology; The words in which thought appears to be
subsumed become like riddles, and every thinker or the
student, where every thinker is in fact a student, should
then have the task of solving the riddle; to spend years,
perhaps a whole lifetime, in trying to loosen a knot that
ought not have been tied in the first place. But then if one
unties the conundrum one is back at the beginning: an error
has been corrected; but the question that led to it has not
been answered. The problem has not been solved. Such is my
interpretation of the difficulties entailed in using the
terms subjectivity and objectivity. Better, I think, to
contemplate the issues, questions and problems that led to
their use in the first place. These terms have been in use
not for centuries, but for millenia.
