Die Erfindung der Zukunft ist Ausdruck des
menschlichen Dranges zur Unsterblichkeit. Die Erfindung
der Vergangenheit ist Ausdruck des menschlichen Dranges
nach Allmacht.
The proposition of a future is the expression of man's
lust for immortality. The proposition of a past is the
expression of man's lust for power. By its essence,
implicitly by its definition, history leads back to the
ultimate beginning. Implicit in history is the historian's
presumption of his potential presence at the creation be
it in the myths of Genesis or in the myths of Darwinism.
The desire to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge
reflects the intuition that food is the source of strength.
To the extent that knowledge is power, the desire for
knowledge is the desire for power. All factual knowledge
is knowledge of the past, and the acquisition of such
knowledge is indeed the invention of the past, which is the
expression of man's lust for power. q.e.d.
