Dear Mr. Bannon, Thank you very much for your interest. My building project on Nantucket is presently in legal limbo, awaiting a decision by the Suffolk Superior Court on the issues, whether the Nantucket Building inspector has the legal right to prohibit me from installing the plumbing in my house, and to require that the rough plumbing (four bathrooms, kitchen, hotwater tank, laundry tub, and washing machine connection,) be ripped out by a licensed plumber. The Superior Court is to hand down its decision by December 2009; an appeal (by either party) would take another year. Since I enjoy doing the legal work myself, the litigation is not at all embarrassing or oppressive to me. Obviously, at this time, there's nothing to do but wait. Once the courts have spoken, I'll need to get the rough plumbing and the rough wiring inspected. If by that time I'm still in circulation (I am 79 now) I will need assistance with the plastering and the installation of two flights of spiral stairs. Whether I will still be able to lay the hardwood floors and tile the bathrooms remains to be seen; and it is quite possible that my survivors, if not myself, will then ask for your help. Meanwhile I have installed a computerized surveillance system which enables me to reassure myself from day to day that the house is still standing. I attach two images which I retrieved this morning, to give you an idea what I have been describing. Thanks again for your interest. Sincerely, Ernst Meyer
