Dear Cyndy, A bit more information about Deck House might be helpful, when you talk with Molly Tee. Deck Houses have roofs of very low pitch, the beams and planks of which are exposed on the inside. Insulation is applied to the outer surface of the roof-planks, under the asphalt shingles. I very much like the inside appearance, and I like the circumstance that the surface of the roof is accessible to me - because of its flatness. The reason for the more traditional pitched roof is that it's more readily made watertight. I believe Deck House has solved the technical problems associated with their low pitched roofs, but one can never be certain, and it seems prudent to ask very searching questions. Deck House in its previous incarnation required the customer to provide the septic system, the well, and the foundation. It then furnished all materials and plumbing fixtures, with carefully detailed plans for all phases of the construction, but it required the customer to find a builder who would assemble these materials according to Deck House instructions. This is the weak point of their system. Conceivably they might be able to recommend a builder in the Canaan region with whose perforance they are satisfied, but more likely not. Finding a builder would be your task. The involvement of two responsible parties creates potential (legal) problems. If things don't turn out right, one will blame the other. For my part, I am confident that I could deal with the situation, about yourself, I'm not sure. Something to think about. In any case, take my advice and hide your checkbook where you can't find it. Attached is a picture of today's visitor. If you can't open it, no great loss. Jochen
