To close the house for the winter: 1. Turn off electricity to furnace by pulling down lever on metal box on the wall in the furnace room that is back of the furnace. 2. Turn off electricity to hot water heater by turning switch at the left side of the hot water heater 3. Turn off electricity to water pump by turning off switch in the drying room 4. Open hot and cold faucets in basement to left of the door to the garage. 5. Go to second floor bathroom and Flush toilet. open both hot and cold bathtub faucets. Turn the shower faucet half way open open both hot and cold sink faucets. Flush toilet again. 6. Go to first floor pink bathroom and Flush toilet. open both hot and cold bathtub faucets. Turn the shower faucet half way open open both hot and cold sink faucets. Flush toilet again. 7. Go to first floor blue bathroom and Flush toilet. open both hot and cold bathtub faucets. Turn the shower faucet half way open open both hot and cold sink faucets. Flush toilet again. 8. In kitchen, open both hot and cold kitchen faucets. Drain sprayer by pulling it up out of its socket and holding it open until no more air movement is heard. 9. In basement open both hot and cold faucets in the shower stall 10. In basement laundry room, close both hot and cold faucets, then use pliers to unscrew hot and cold water hoses to washing machine. then open both hot and cold faucets from which hoses have been detached. 11. In basement drying room, open 2 faucets at pipes where water from pump enters the basement. 12. In basement drying room, open drain at bottom of hot water tank and let water drain through hose into the sump. 13. In basement drying room, open drain at bottom of pressure water tank and let water drain through hose into the sump. 14. Open outside faucet outside garage door. 15. Open outside faucet outside kitchen. 16. In second floor bathroom, remove porcelain lid from toilet tank, then use sponge to remove water standing in tank. Use first a small cup, then use sponge to dry toilet bowl. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into bathtub drain. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into sink drain. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into toilet bowl, only if toilet bowl is not dry. turn on fluorescent cabinet light 17. In first floor pink bathroom, remove porcelain lid from toilet tank, then use sponge to remove water standing in tank. Use first a small cup, then use sponge to dry toilet bowl. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into bathtub drain. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into sink drain. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into toilet bowl, only if toilet bowl is not dry. turn on fluorescent cabinet light 18. In first floor blue bathroom, remove porcelain lid from toilet tank, then use sponge to remove water standing in tank. Use first a small cup, then use sponge to dry toilet bowl. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into bathtub drain. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into sink drain. Pour 1 cup anti-freeze into toilet bowl, only if toilet bowl is not dry. turn on fluorescent cabinet light 19. Make sure all windows, upstairs and downstairs, and if practical, all storm windows are closed. 20. Make sure porch doors is locked, and porch windows are closed. 21. Plug white telephone line into lower jack of phone jack between porch windows, back of computer. 22. Upstairs, in end bedroom, check setting of timer, then push switch on table lamp. 23. Upstairs, in twin bedroom, push switch on table lamp. 24. Upstairs, in double bedroom, trun on radio. 25. Downstairs, in twin bedroom, push switch on table lamp. 26. Downstairs, in kitchen, turn on radio. 27. Set burglar alarm before leaving house.
