I spoke at length with Jeane about our plans. There is no resident pastor in Konnarock. Jeane believes that it was a preacher named William Robertson who told Margrit he wanted to conduct her memorial service. (Some conversation that must have been.) William Robertson no longer lives in the Konnarock vicinity; Jeane thinks he has moved hundreds if not more than a thousand miles away. I conclude we should not ask him to come back for any service, but if he returns on his own, let him participate as he wishes. In the absence of an ordained minister to conduct a formal memorial service, I would like to designate what we plan to put on not as a Memorial Service but as a Memorial Concert, and to spend most of an hour, or even more than an hour in musical performances, largely solo, by Laura, Rebekah, Nathaniel, Benjamin, and Leah and by Anna Ludwig, each musician choosing the pieces that he or she wished to perform. There might be intervals between the pieces in which members of the congregation could speak their minds. The program might be opened and closed with the reading of a psalm. What do you think?
