      For years I was puzzled by "entwerfende Geist" as some
      sort of transcendental baseball pitcher. Then it dawned on
      me that the reference is to a transcendental architect.
      Entwerfen, Entwurf mean design. Not an inappropriate 
      metaphor for legal draftsmanship, either.
