B) If my father does not survive me, then I give to my mother
if she survives me 

1) all books, letters and manuscripts in the German language
          
2) any interests subject to the probate administration of this will,
which interest I hold in properties located at 174 School Street,
Belmont MA 02478, 20287 Coolgreen Road, Konnarock VA 24236 and
3 Red Barn Road, Nantucket MA.                     

C) All other property not described in A) or B) above I give to my
wife Laura Meyer, if she survives me.

D) Notwithstanding the provisions of A, B, and C above,
this will shall not be construed to rescind, abrogate or alter
assignments made by me during my lifetime of my interests in trusts
or other non-testamentary instruments.

I'm pleased that you consider adopting my proposal for a School
Street Charitable trust. However, in my estate planning I
assumed that you would be the executor and trustees,
an arrangement which would minimize the danger of
estate erosion by attorney's fees. I am concerned about the
administrative costs of executing the will and establishing
and maintaining the hypothetical charritable trust.
In order to fulfill its function such a trust would
need to be a FAMILY enterprise.  Unless your relationships
with Charlie and Donald have an intimacy of which I am not
aware, I would consider nominating as successor Executors and
Trustees in the event that Laura predeceases you,
in well-considered sequence, the four children. 
As sole beneficiaries they have a manifest interest
in minimizing the costs of probate and administration. 
Assuming that you and Laura, Mommy and I have all died,
I would like to believe that at least one of them would
rise to the occasion.
