Assessed value: Land 53300, Buildings: 130000 Minimum residential lot size is 2 acres. I know of no other restrictions for general farm use. Whether or not mining or industrial use would be permitted, I don't know. On Nantucket we have an incomplete house on 3.50 acres Assessed value: Land 550000. Buildings 472600. with the building value discounted 50% for incompletion. Minimum residential lot size is now 3 acres. Surrounded by conservation land and one unbuildable lot. Farming is probably permitted, but Nantucket being such as it is, might be challenged. In Lisbon we have 65 acres, originally pasture, but changing into pine groves. Except for several inconstant springs, there is no water except sub-surface. Assessed value is 115600, but taxes are much discounted for perpetuation of "current use". Improvements would require removal from "current use" of the portion of land affected, with a one time 10 percent tax penalty. Our deed contains an ancient restriction on mining rights which is probably not legally enforceable. It's a beautiful piece of land. We should visit it some time this summer. Jochen Dear Rebekah, I neglected to quote the real estate taxes: Konnarock: 1063.14 Nantucket 2549.70 Lisbon: 399.00 We should be looking for more land as investment, because they're not making any more, and the population is growing. I'm open to all suggestions.
