These thoughts about Hoelderlin's "Andenken"
are probably much too late for your essay.
Nonetheless, thinking about that very
enigmatic (nonsensical) line:

"Noch denket das mir wohl und wie"

I conjecture that if "denket" is replaced with "duenket"
and "wie" is replaced with Weh" the line becomes

"Noch duenket das mir Wohl und Weh"

which makes sense and which, referring to the
scenes Hoelderlin describes, might be translated

"Yet (all) that seems to me to be life."

"Wohl und Weh" is a colloquial epigram designating
the vicisstudes of life. I'm reminded of verse 7
in Bach's Cantata 147, referring to the spectrum of
existence: "In Wohl und Weh, in Freud und Leid"

Conjectures (Konjekturen) as you may know, are the
bread and butter of classical philologists who vie
with one another to emend corrupted texts with errors
copied by unthinking monks...

From my own experience I can report that I occasionally
discover myself making typographical errors based on
phonetic confusion, such as writing "here" for "hear",
"sea" instead of "see", and vice versa.  It's quite
plausible to me especially considering his debilitated
state, that when Hoelderlin had in mind "duenkt", he
instead wrote "denkt", that for "Weh" he wrote "wie",
since in both cases, the words sound very similar.
