Dear Cyndy, There are some days when I look back at all my scurrying around and find that I have accomplished little if anything at all. When I look back on other days spent in a desultory manner on diverse efforts, including day-dreaming, none of which seem to have come to fruition, I conclude that something worthwhile has happened after all. Yesterday, in anticipating my cross-examination of Mr. Ciarmataro's contention that my allegedly backwards installation of a "wye" in the main sewer pipe increased the "resistance to flow", I spent some hours trying to refresh my very limited understanding of fluid mechanichs. I began by googling "laminar flow", then "Reynolds Number", and "Hagen-Poiseuille equation" and found myself confronted with a Navier-Stokes differential equation which I remembered struggling vainly to understand many years ago. Meanwhile, as I have confided to you, I've spent many months ruminating on a theory of knowledge which in my circumstances is more accurately denominated a theory of ignorance; but whatever, knowledge or ignorance, Ciamartaro's or Meyer's, I will have something to ask questions about at the hearing. Since the rain has stopped, the sun was out and the grass was finally dry, I spent some of the afternoon repairing the video surveillance system with satisfactory results. When I had finished, all eight cameras were functioning. Chapter 53 continues to develop. I follow the story wherever it leads me. Last night I also edited Chapter 1 of my first novel "Die Andere". I've decided that self-publication is financially feasible. Publishing an electronic text costs virtually nothing at all, and even the printing of a new book is now practical, since it is possible to arrange for "printing on demand" where the only copies printed are those which are actually ordered. I have, of course, no reason to think that anyone will want to read what I have written. Nonetheless, it seems to me a reasonable project to make the books available to the public. Mr. Peluso, the executive secretary of the plumbing board seems to have difficulty scheduling a hearing. He promised to "get back" to me by the end of next week, i.e. by May 4. Our plans for the summer must therefore remain indefinite, a situation not uncongenial to me. iIt's getting late, and I want to get started with the editing of Chapter 2, - and so, good night. Please give my best to Ned. Jochen
