Dear Cyndy, Into today's 1 p.m. mail, I placed an envelope addressed to you containing a key to the kitchen (back) door of 174 School Street. I used the Konnarock return address so as not to lead the postal inspector into temptation. The post office does not like rigid objects in letters because they interfere with machine processing. If the key doesn't arrive, that's why. Please mention receiving the key, if and when. It would help if you would tell me the approximate dates of your arrivals and departures and, as soon as you know, whether Jill will in fact come along. I have no plans form the next week except to see patients and to make the house a bit cleaner. If you will send me a list of non-perishable groceries, I'll have them for you when you arrive. Margaret and I are talking about leaving for Virginia in a week, on April 16th or 17th, but that seems very uncertain. I have no idea when we might return, but it's quite possible that we will be here when you arrive. I suggest you print out a google map of 174 School Street; it will show the bus stops at the intersection of Orchard Street and Concord Avenue. From there its a short walk up Orchard Street past Orchard Circle to School Street. Turn left on School Street without crossing it. Our house is the fourth from the corner. The busses which run every half hour to and from the underground station at Harvard Square are Nos. 74 and 75. (#74 traverses the east side of Fresh Pond, #75, the west side.) Avoid parking on School Street. Traffic there is fast and ruthless. More than one parked car has been demolished (and more than one pedestrian killed) Be careful. Park in our driveway on the left side of the garage. This will give Klemens, Benjamin and Nathaniel access to our blue Dodge which will be parked in front of the right side of the garage, and to our old green Dodge which is inside the garage on the right side. If you wish to park on the street, use Bow Road directly across from us (and be careful crossing School Street) But don't keep your car on Bow Road after midnight because all night street parking is not permitted. I'll tell you more about the inside of the house in another e-mail. Best wishes to you and Ned. Jochen
