b) I will attempt to renew the Red Car registration via the Internet
without waiting for a notice from the Registry. I will let you know
if I'm not successful and if I need your help.

c) Thank you very much for your offer to fly down on June 16 or 17,
to drive us back. It's a propect I find very congenial, although I 
believe Mommy and I could get back safely by ourselves. I entertain 
fantasies of returning to Konnarock soon after a status review hearing, 
then coming back to to Belmont a second time for the Appeals Court 
mandated plumbing board hearing, then returning to Konnarock a third 
time and staying until the end of September.  My probably quite 
unrealistic fantasies entail three Belmont-Konnarock round trips 
this summer, an hypothetically absurd imposition on you, if you were
to accompany us on each trip. There are other alternatives: it's too
complex a topic for e-mail. We should discuss it on the 'phone.

d) A very radical idea which you should consider is that this might be 
a felicitous juncture for you to become involved in the legal procedings:

i) by appearing at the status hearing in my place, and 

ii) accompanying me to the plumbing board hearing and participating
in the argument. 

Your becoming involved at this juncture would help the
Nantucket authorities to save face and would optimize the
likelihood of your getting a usable house on Nantucket
at a cost that would not bankrupt us.

e) Thank you very much for the attached editorial of the Clinical
Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. The psychometric
efforts which you review seem important (in a negative dimension)
and are very interesting to me. The closest I get to such issues are the
questions about each of the CME programs in which I must participate,
questions that I don't know how to answer truthfully, questions so
perplexing that if I took them seriously, I would despair. I would like
to think more about ICH-CAHPS. If it's not too much trouble, I would
ask you to provide me: i) with copies of the questions to patients
ii) the paper by Wood, Paoli, Hays et al., iii) lend me your copy
of Nunnally (if you own it). Presumably I can find the CMS directives
on the Internet.  I promise to issue an opinion only if you ask.
