Dear Alex, Margaret is lying motionless and silent in her bed next to the table from which I am writing. Occasionally she lifts her arm to touch her face; occasionally she partially opens her eyes. She commented only on the rays of the sun playing on the rainbow colored blanket with which I have covered her. Except for about 12 oz. of cranberry juice she has refused all food and drink since yesterday morning. Her urinary output, judging from the weight of the sponges, was adequate; her bowels have not moved since yesterday. Her pulse and respirations are normal. Her skin was intact when last I examined it earlier today. I am sad and find it difficult to talk because I am unable to make myself understood. I have neglected to answer the telephone, but if you wish to communicate, you may send e-mail to which it will be easier to reply than spoken words. I wish and hope that you are content and as happy as circumstances permit. Love, Jochen
