Dear Peter, Thank you for your letter with its question about the proposed family gathering at Sharon in January. Klemens won't come because he is still mourning Margaret's death. I won't come without Klemens, but if I did come without Klemens, I certainly wouldn't come without Margaret's ghost who like Banquo would explain to them that by purporting to be able to celebrate her memory in my absence they were in fact presuming to be able to arrange for her a post- humous divorce from me. She would be very angry and break up the party, no, not like Banquo, but like an angel sent to overturn the tables of the money-changers in the temple. Better put it off.
