Dear Anne, Thank you for your letter. I welcome the opportunity to write to you, trained as a lawyer not to be offended by facts, theories or arguments that are presented to you. I have no objection to conversation, but being somewhat deaf and afflicted with a fleeting memory, I find written communication more reliable. I take at face value Janet's statement that you and she are organizing this "memorial service" for Margaret. So far as I'm concerned you don't have to tell Janet anything since I consider you as jointly responsible for this project, authorized to make binding decisions. You have invited me to this "memorial service." Even if I'm not asked (or permitted) to speak to the group, most of the participants will seek to speak with me to convey their "condolences". I will reply to them that I consider them to have been lured and seduced by you to participate in a gang rape of Margaret's spirit, a rape by which my spirit is similarly abused, because Margaret's spirit and my spirit are one. I give you fair warning, because if you wish to protect your guests from my thoughts, you can do so simply by withdrawing your invitation. I will not crash your party. As soon as time permits, I will provide you with a detailed formal explanation. Meanwhile, thank you for your interest and involvement. Please feel free to write or to telephone if and when you wish.
