Dear Marion, Thank you for both your letters. I neglected to answer the first, about the Youtube Passovers, because my Passover enthusiasm was transiently blunted by the reverse anti-semitism which excludes me from the Passover ceremony in Laura's house (which I once bought for my parents, then gave to Klemens who had it taken away from him.) Nor do I think that I can do justice to your second letter, which arrived to inaugurate my new very fast broadband internet connection in Konnarock because even six months after her death, I am still encountering Margaret in every room of this house which is haunted by the memories of a family of which I am the survivor. Except for a daily telephone call from Klemens, my days pass in solitude. My efforts to complete volume seven of my novel and proceed with volume eight have yet to bear fruit; but I shall keep on trying. Pieces of the ceiling in a second floor bedroom have fallen to the floor after being weakened by winter rains driven through a leaking roof. The repair will require several days. I can't mow the lawn until I've had the mower repaired. One of its plastic wheels is broken. A composition board tub enclosure in one of the bathrooms has disintegrated from age and should be replaced with tiles. I ask myself whether I am bold - or foolish enough to try to do the work myself. I anticipate with pleasure talking with you when you telephone. The number here is 276-388-3111. Good night and sleep well. Jochen
