Dear Alex,

This is nothing more than an e-mail thank you note for your
telephone call on what would have been Margaret's 02nd birthday.
I reflect on the life that she made for me with unwavering 
gratitude, and I think of your friendship as a monument on
the periphery of my love. Please feel free to telephone - or
not to telephone - as seems best to you, and if it seems
apprpriate, remind Janet of who I am.
