Dear Nathaniel, Thank you, and if you consider it appropriate, thank Professor Zander for his account of the BPYO tour 2016, which I found interesting and informative, providing insight into what he and you are doing. The subject of the relationships of musicians to the music and to the society which they enlighten is very compelling to me, perhaps because my own life has been shaped by my disappointment not to have become a musician. I've postponed listening to the music Professor Zander cited, because of a musical diet so strict that it would make an orthodox rabbi seem indulgent. Right now I restrict myself to Mozart's three DaPonte operas whose melodies and rhythms and insights serve as the indispensable continuo for my writing. I think of you often and I wish you well. Love, Jochen
