Dear Ms. Lyons, Thank you for your e-mail. Might we communicate by e-mail rather than by telephone? I am an 87 year-old semi-retired, but still licensed ophthalmologist who needs only one VOIP telephone line to which presumably several local telephone sets might be connected. I've been a much satisfied Earthlink DSL customer for years, relying on a copper telephone connection 617-489-1043. For the past several months, telephone provider, Verizon, has been pressuring me to abandon Earthlink DSL in favor of Verizon FIOS internet service, advising me that Verizon would not continue to maintain the copper telephone line. Recently this prediction appears to have become true. Since April 26, 2017 I have had no voice telephone service, while the DSL connection appears unimpaired. My questions and commeents: 1. Would you be able to provide me with VOIP service WITHOUT IMPAIRING THE EXISTING DSL CONNECTION? 2. Might my existing copper line telephone number 617-489-1043 be transferred to the new VOIP service WITHOUT IMPAIRING THE EXISTING DSL CONNECTION? 3. What would be the cost to me for local and long distance telephone service? 4. For what length of time would a contract commit me? 5. I believe myself quite capable of connecting/installing any new VOIP service at my house without assistance. Thanks for your help. Ernst Meyer
