With respect to insulation ========================== What I have learned: 1. Home Depot Hyannis: "We don't deliver on Nantucket." 2. Shepley Wood Products Hyannis: "We don't do insulation at all." 3. Cape Cod Express: a) Require delivery to their terminal in Wareham. b) will deliver to their Terminal on Nantucket. c) will hold in that terminal limited volume of fiberglass insulation for limited number of days until picked up by us. d) cannot estimate shipping charges until I provide data on weight and volume. What I suggest: 1. That I provide Cape Cod Express with weight and volume data and obtain from them their charges for transportation. 2. That we canvass Nantucket insulation contractors: a) for willingness to sell us insulation, b) for willingness to appear at 3 Red Barn Road at the time of our next trip to give a cost estimate. 3. That you make the decision on the basis of cost and value to you of do-it-yourself insulation vs. subcontracting. With respect to automobiles I suggest: ====================================== 1. That we avail ourselves of the AAA privilege of free towing of the small blue van to Chicos, and that we decide on the basis of their estimate whether to donate that van or have it repaired. 2. That as soon as we have decided to spend nights in the house a) as campers, or b) with water and or toilet, we take the large blue minivan to the Island, not before. As long as we make only one day visits, we have little if any use for a car on the Island. 3. As long as the small blue van is running, I can drive it to the Star Market, we can do without another car, new or second hand. and we have no need for an other car (new or used). ======================================= The foregoing are my suggestions, but all decisions are yours.
