I wish to to defer to you in all decisions about broad-band Internet. I offer the following considerations: a) The existing electrical panel, if I remember correctly, I mounted on 3/4 or 1/2 plywood screwed to 2x4's suspended with machine bolts from the ceiling joists above. b) I mounted other, less weighty electrical and plumbing compenents on the concrete walls by using concrete bolts matched with concrete drill bits driven into the concrete with a hammer drill. I don't know whether there are any such unused bolts and drill bits in the Nantucket house. I could buy them at Home Depot if you wished, before we go to the Island. c) I don't know whether mounting the modem and the router in proximity to the radiating 240V power lines would affect their function. It seems plausible, however, that the 240 volt lines would attenuate wi-fi radiation from an access point which they shielded. d) If you wish to assign a specific location for the cable modem, perhaps we should defer the installation until after we have fashioned a panel and/or a shelf where you want the cable modem to be placed. e) Alternatively you might choose to negotiate with the installer at the time. It's possible that he might have definite opinions where the modem could/should or could not/should not be placed. f) You must decide whether you wish to install a combined modem/router/ wifi access point, or whether you wish to install two or three separate items. I, in fact, have a new wifi access point, not yet installed. I bought it as a "client" to provide wifi access to a computer for which I could not find a functioning wi-fi card. g) You must decide, before the installation is ordered, whether you wish to rent ($11/month) a modem-router-wifi unit, or purchase this for $70.00 from Microcenter. h) Please feel free to place the order yourself as you see fit, or instruct me how you wish me to proceed, 1) with timing of the installation, 2) with rental or purchase of a modem-router-wifi unit. i) I wish to to defer to you in all decisions about this matter. j) I hope your day is not too difficult,
