As of this morning Nathaniel had sequentially entertained several mutually exclusive plans: a) he would meet Cristina at Logan Thursday night and drive her to Putney on Sunday; b) he would avoid encountering Cristina by being away Thursday through Sunday and finding a place to board the dog. I assured Nathaniel that I was willing and able to care for the dog in his absence, that for exercise I would attach the dog to the trolley which you put up, staying with dog and preventing him from supplementing his diet by eating plants, as I succeeded in doing for 45 Minutes Monday afternoon. c) Nathaniel told Cristina in a e-mail that he was "under great stress", that he would be "in and out" and could not anticipate how much of the time he would be here. Cristina wrote to me: "Ich habe, außer der Nachfeier deines Geburtstages, in Boston keine anderen Termine," Whether or not this means she has written off Nathaniel or includes him "in die Nachfeier" I don't know. Nor do I know what efforts, if any, you, Laura and/or Leah should make in this situation. I doubt that Nathaniel knows what he will do. I conclude that the damage to the siding and trim on the south side of the addition is the result of termite activity. Do you agree that on Monday morning I should summon Waltham Chemical? You can tell me on our return from the airport tomorrow night. I hope you are well. My walking is very poor, but I am euphoric.
