MT95ILL@hotmail.com September 11, 2009 Dear Ed, Dear Carolyn, Please look in your mail on or about September 14, for a check of $400.- which Bank of America will mail to you, and let me know if you do not receive it. Klemens and I thank you very much for keeping our lawn mowed with such care during a long hot summer. I had hoped to get back to Konnarock before the winter, but right now the trip doesn't seem practical, since Klemens is very busy at his hospital and I feel too old to venture on the 1700 mile round trip by myself. I have three small requests: 1) At your convenience, would you clip the leaves and branches obstructing the two video cameras, one of which is at the base of the hedge between your house and ours and faces the front of our house. The other video camera with an obstructed view is at the base of the hedge behind the house and faces the garage doors. I believe there are yellow-handled clippers in the right-most drawer of the kitchen counter, under the toaster. Don't worry if you accidentally change the angle of the cameras. I would be able to tell, when I get the pictures, and if necessary I might then ask you to reposition one or both of the cameras. 2) After a heavy rain, would you check for leaks in the second floor bedrooms and in the left outer corner of the dining room. 3) When you are in the house, would you glance around the window sills over the kitchen sink to see if the carpenter ants are very active. Would you look at the upholstery and at the carpets in the dining room and in the living room to see whether there is any obvious evidence from further damage by mice. I am very uncertain about how to deal with the ants and with the mice. The house now been uninhabited for 29 years and 9 months. Empty as it has been, I understand that I have taken, and I am taking, many risks. Please do not consider yourselves responsible for any damage that might have occurred in the past or that might occur in the future, and accept my gratitude for your help. I wouldn't know how to manage without you. Thank you. Jochen
