Thank you for your e-mails. I'm much relieved to hear from you. Here are my preliminary thoughts: a) The threshold issue is how to get the flooring carried into the house. I have various suggestions, but since there is nothing to be done until Monday morning, perhaps we should discuss them. b) The existing framing of the windows should be cleaned thoroughly and painted with polyurethane. As soon as I finish the electrical work, I can (begin to) do this, if you wish. c) If, as is proposed, the flooring is installed before the walls are painted, the flooring should probably be sanded and sealed (with polyurethane?) prior to painting, inasmuch as unavoidable spots of paint will be much! easier to remove from dried polyurethaned than from untreated flooring. d) I hesitate to choose the colors with which the walls are painted until the doors of abutting rooms have been selected and installed. Therefore I would plan to have the walls painted only after the flooring and after the inside doors have been installed and sealed with polyurethane, but before the trim is applied. If you like, we might discuss these issues. I hope that you sleep well and that tomorrow is not too difficult for you.
