Nikola Chubrich Dear Nick, A trip to Virginia has been very much on my mind. I am much pleased that you might wish to come, but I feel responsible. I don't want to lure you into an enterprise which you might regret. I am concerned about: a) the physical dangers of the 1700 mile round trip, on a busy Interstate, where the attempt to find lodging without prior reservation has in the past been consistently unsuccessful, so that one is constrained to take naps in the car at rest areas, and continue driving intermittently for 17 hours. b) the expenditure, on your part, of physical and emotional energy, c) the inconveniences, discomforts and disappointments, which such a trip would unavoidably entail. If you should nonetheless decide to come, I am prepared to set to your preferences: a) the length of the trip, b) the dates of the trip, c) the itinerary The issues in my mind are so complex that e-mail exchanges to elucidate them seem inefficient. Therefore, if you are still interested in the trip, please e-mail to me a telephone number and a time convenient for a telephone conversation, or alternatively, telephone me at your comvenience at 617-548-5768. Today, I'm 89, and I wish myself "happy birthday". EJM
