Dear Nikola,

Thank you for ALL your recent letters. Although I have tried for many years, long and hard, to learn to express in writing what I think and feel, I can find no words in the English language, nor in German, nor in any other language that would do justice to my esteem. Your letters have given the words truth, veritas, aletheia, Wahrheit, vérité ... a dimension uniquely personal to you, and correspondingly deep and valuable.

I don't know how to reply, other than to take refuge in Numbers 6: 24-26 (KJV). Undoubtedly we will have future occasions to reflect on, to recount and to explain to each other our respective autobiographies.  Meanwhile, please don't hesitate to ask, if there are issues or themes to which you would like a specific response.
