Dear Nikola, Thank you for your letter, which I just read, after awakening from 12 hours of sound, dreamless sleep, a letter from which I infer, I hope correctly, that you are very well. So, I hope, is the rest of your family. Your resort to mathematical logic to elucidate communication among us, t, ta and r, tells nothing about t, ta, or r; tells nothing about o, the object to be communicated, but it tells much about mathematical logic and about what mathematical logic is and is not capable of communicating. The facets of reality, which can be addressed only by indirection, by the pointers of poetry, are ultimately subject only to intuitive, not conceptual discovery. As I write, I am reminded of a line in Rilke's Duino Elegy I. He refers to "die ununterbrochene Nachricht die aus Stille sich bildet." the uninterrupted message that is constituted by silence. I have much occasion to gather experience interpreting the messages of silence. Whether I interpret them correctly is another issue. Meanwhile my best post-Thanksgiving wishes to you and your family.
