Dear Donald,

The staircase wit with which I am encumbered leads me to supplement the letter which I e-mailed to you yesterday.

a) I am impressed and respectful of Reinhold's devotion to our family which he expressed in publishing as "Verstreut über alle fünf Kontinente" the memories of many of us Rosenthalers.

b) Likewise I am respectful of your wish that "Verstreut über alle fünf Kontinente" be translated into English and that it be published.

c) I would like to help.

d) While I am confident of my ability to translate Reinhold's German into English, I am diffident of my ability to compose a translation the mood and mode of which would be acceptable to Reinhold, to yourself, to other Rosenthal family members or to a wider English speaking readership.

e) Because of this diffidence, I require an editor who need not be fluent in German, but who will criticize and correct my ideas and my style to make them widely acceptable.

f) Hypothetically the editor I require could be yourself, or Reinhold, or Ron or Vivien Goldman.

f) Please feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone who you think might be willing to get involved in the proposed translation, including Reinhold and the Goldmans.
