Dear Dr. Meyer:

I hope you are managing to keep tolerably well. I am keeping well, and have started to play violin again. I find it much easier when I play like you write, not editing.

On Sunday someone gave me a copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam with the original Persian, and translations in English (FitzGerald's), as well as French and German.

I have a copy of Rilke with me but have not read it here. I am reading War and Peace right now; it is wonderful.

I am currently in Phoenix and will return next Tuesday, whence I shall go to the Greenwood reunion to play my newfound again violin.
