From:Benjamin Meyer Date:September 24, 2022 Subject: Checking in Dear Yoyo, I am writing to say hello and ask how you are doing. Carrie and I missed you at our wedding but you were on my mind as the ritual proceeded. I felt and am still feeling supreme gratitude for my family and friends who make me feel deeply loved. I am enjoying the symbiosis of marriage. We spent a few days after the wedding in Walland, Tennessee, in the Smoky Mountains, about a three hours' drive from Konnarock. We spent time mountain biking, hiking, and doing a fly fishing lesson. I caught one rainbow trout, released it, and it swam away. I felt badly, of course, because I wouldn't want to be caught and then released, but alas, I eat fish and I think getting experience about how "the sausage is made" is sometimes instructive. I spent the last week in the Memory and Aging Center at UCSF where I was evaluating people with cognitive changes. These evaluations are rewarding from the standpoint of the doctor-patient relationship because one spends several hours with the person, interviewing and examining them. This coming week I will be the Neurology consult resident, fielding questions about stroke, altered mental status, seizure, weakness, dizziness, etc. It should be fast-paced and stimulating. The learning environment continues to be kind and encouraging, allowing me to feel comfortable asking any questions I have and taking intellectual risks, which is how I learn best. I was saddened to hear that Letty died. Papa told me that she was at home and was comfortable, which is best. How are you? Love, Benjamin
