From:Donald Strauss Date; January 18, 2023 Subject: January 18 update Hi Jochen: Just a brief “hello” to find out how you are these days. Jan and I are back at home in a manner of speaking for several weeks. I say that having come home to Naperville IL after spending two weeks in Florida, under its bright, blue, sunny skies. There were 14 of 15 of our immediate family there, missing a granddaughter who was in a treatment center in California. She suffered from long term Covid, her taste and smell never returned after a year and at age 14, she developed a serious eating disorder and related anxiety, which her parents are trying to resolve. Anyway, the rest of us had a wonderful time together. That is to say, we did so, once my daughter and her family of 5 arrived after finding themselves deprived of their visit for 5 days because Southwest deferred their vacation because of their (Southwest Airline’s) computer fiasco. We have been home for a week and a half and depart for Philadelphia for our niece’s Bas Mitzvah weekend. Then, the following weekend, we go and stay for a long weekend at another Bas Mitzvah in Milwaukee, for Jan’s cousin’s granddaughter. Then the next weekend, again, we leave for a short stay for a yet another Bas Mitzvah in Northern Illinois for her cousin’s other granddaughter. Wow. I am tired thinking of all this. In between, Jan and I try to catch up with many chores, visit with friends and take on MRI’s and doctor visits. My doctor saw a bright spot on my last MRI and wants another MRI to nail down that it something not worth worrying about. Jan has just started having pains in her lower right side, but her appendix was removed when she was a young and her doctor could feel no mass; still the pain continues and a screening MRI is scheduled. We will keep you in loop. Don
