Recursiveness as principle, method and technique of
metascience. Recursiveness as principle, method and technique of
cognition. The recursive function is the consciousness of self.
The recursive function is the awareness of the independence of
the object.

When awareness is dominated by the independent integrity of
the object objective recursion ensues. Objective recursion
terminates when the object is recognized and identified as
absolutely independent of the subject. Objective recursion
terminates with the identification of the object.

When awareness is dominated by the integrity of the subject
subjective recursion ensues. Subjective recursion terminates
when the object is recognized and identified as absolutely
dependent upon the subject, as idea (Vorstellung) in the mind of
the subject.

As long as awareness is directed at objective phenomena no
subjective recursion takes place, because the mind is continually
drawn (abgelenkt, gelenkt) to one object or the next; and even
when it dwells on or returns to the same object, no subjective
recursion occurs.

It is when the subject becomes aware of himself (itself) as
such that subjective recursion ensues; because the individual
thinker then cannot avoid the cycle of self-awareness in the
apperception of the objective material.

This scheme is predicated on the assumption that each
thought process proceeds from the mental state in which the mind
was left by the previous thought. For only if each thought
creates a new platform from which the next thought begins does
recursion become possible.
