It is the presumption of some psychologists, of
virtually all economists, sociologists and political
theorists, that our actions are the consequence of our
thoughts, our intentions and decisions. Yet little of what
we do can be so explained. Most of our actions seem to be
driven by irrational forces: and if we look closely enough,
we might be surprised to discover that reason itself has an
explanation which is beyond reason, i.e., irrational.
