20060326.00 "the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life" Why not the word killeth, but the spirit giveth life? Because in the beginning was the word, and the word was God. The word giveth life. therefore to paraphrase, the letter killeth but the word giveth life. A prehistoric Gestalt theorist was at work here, with the insight that the word and its meaning are intuitively given, and are destroyed by being atomized; and once destroyed, cannot be (re)synthesized from letters or digits as its parts. Bertrand Russell and Alfred North Whitehead just didn't get it. * * * * *
