20060828.00 The tasting of a valuable wine is clearly a unique, monentary experience with all the characterisytics of an existential event. Curiously and interstingly, the immediacy and intimacy of that experience seems insufficient, hence it is turned into a ritual, a prescribed act: "This do in remembrance of me." The ritual in turn seems empty, seems in need of explanation, needs to be made meaningful, needs to be - well - deritualized. The pendulum of experience, (Erleben) swings between the solitary inward experience and the outward, objective potentially public one. * * * * *
