The tasting of a valuable wine is clearly a unique,
monentary experience with all the characterisytics of an
existential event. Curiously and interstingly, the immediacy
and intimacy of that experience seems insufficient, hence it
is turned into a ritual, a prescribed act: "This do in
remembrance of me." The ritual in turn seems empty, seems in
need of explanation, needs to be made meaningful, needs to be
- well - deritualized. The pendulum of experience, (Erleben)
swings between the solitary inward experience and the
outward, objective potentially public one.
